Overview

Direct Buy Buttons allow users to sell print-on-demand books directly from their own websites without building a custom checkout experience. To use this feature, users must meet several account and operational requirements.

This article explains the requirements for using Direct Buy Buttons and the responsibilities users have when selling through this sales channel.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Requirements

Before you can use Direct Buy Buttons, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Your Lulu Account Must Be Set to USD

Your account must be set to, and remain in USD currency.

You Must have a U.S. Bank Account

Buy button payouts are processed through Stripe, which currently requires merchants using this feature to connect a U.S.-based bank account.

During the Stripe onboarding process, you will be asked to connect the bank account where your Buy Button earnings should be deposited.

If you do not have a U.S. bank account, you will not be able to activate buy buttons at this time.

Seller Responsibilities

When selling through Direct Buy Buttons, the customer is purchasing through your checkout and you are responsible for providing customer support to your buyers. Customers who purchased through your checkout should not be referred to Lulu.

You should provide customers with a clear method of contacting you, such as:

  • An email address
  • A contact form on your website
  • A customer support portal
  • Another reliable support method

Customers should contact you regarding questions about:

  • Order status
  • Shipping updates
  • Address changes
  • Cancellations
  • Refunds
  • Replacements due to damage or print defects
  • General product inquiries

If additional assistance is required, you can then contact Lulu on your customer's behalf.

Respecting Customer Marketing Preferences

During checkout, customers have the option to choose whether they wish to receive marketing communications.

If a customer does not opt in to receive marketing emails or promotional communications, you must not use their contact information for marketing purposes.

Customer contact information should only be used for purposes related to fulfilling and supporting their order unless the customer has explicitly provided consent to receive marketing communications.

Sellers are responsible for complying with all applicable privacy, marketing, and data protection laws in the regions where they operate.
