Buy Buttons and Direct Checkout Links are types of Embedded Widgets that allow you to add Lulu-powered purchasing experiences directly to your website, blog, landing page, or other online platforms.


Rather than building and maintaining a full ecommerce store, these widgets provide simple tools that can be placed on an existing website to help customers discover and purchase your products.

What Is an Embedded Widget?

An embedded widget is a small piece of code that can be added to a webpage to display interactive content.

Lulu offers two different types of widgets that, when added to your website, newsletter, or wherever you can paste a link, enable you to sell your books to your customers without requiring a separate storefront or custom ecommerce solution.


Widgets can be added to many types of websites and content platforms that support custom HTML, URL Links, or embed code.


Because widgets can be placed directly where customers are already engaging with your content, they help create a streamlined purchasing experience.

Types of Embedded Widgets

Lulu offers two widget types:


Buy Buttons

Buy Buttons allow customers to add products to a shopping cart directly from your website.

Buy Buttons can be customized to match your website's branding, and can display varying levels of product information.


Direct Checkout Links allow customers to proceed directly to checkout for a specific product.

This option is ideal for websites promoting a single product or for creators who want a simple purchase experience without a traditional shopping cart.

How Embedded Widgets Work

Although the setup process varies by widget type, the general workflow is:

  1. Create a Stripe Account and sales channel in your Lulu Direct account.
  2. Add one or more products to your sales channel.
  3. Retrieve the generated widget code or HTML link.
  4. Copy and paste the code into your website.
  5. Publish your webpage.

Once the widget is live, customers can interact with the product and place orders through Lulu's secure purchasing system.

Can I add the Lulu Direct Buy Button Cart and Checkout to every page?

Yes. You can add the Lulu Direct Buy Button cart to every page of your website, even if the page does not contain any Lulu Direct Buy Buttons.

To enable the cart, add the following script to your website:

We recommend adding the script to your website’s <header>. This allows the Buy Button script and cart functionality to load automatically on each page where the script is included.


Wix Limitation for Lulu Direct Buy Button Cart and Checkout

Currently, Wix renders iframes in a way that prevents the embedded cart icon and Checkout popup from displaying within the page.

Lulu Direct Buy Buttons will still work on Wix. When a customer clicks a Buy Button, the checkout will open in a new browser tab rather than displaying within the page.
